Gun mages are a recently appearing group in the Iron Kingdoms. As the use of guns has spread those who in the past may have been fledgling sorcerers are finding a natural affinity to guns. These people quickly become adept at gun fighting in all its principles, and fuel arcane energy into each shot they fire. Many just find that these powers flow very naturally through such a weapon, and would not feel comfortable with other arcane implements.

These tend to be aggressively individualistic people. Their weapons and their magic prove everything that anyone would need to know about them, and they rarely have patience for anything that would slow them down. These powerful individuals are often hired as bodyguards and mercenaries as their purely offensive natural magic lends to a violent career.

As a gun mage, you combine some of the resourcefulness that magic allows with the offensive power of firearms. As a ritual caster you also have some talent to offer outside of combat, and can fill a more utilitarian role in some parties.
Arcane Erosion
Normal guns were not designed to handle the stress of energy that a gun mage focuses through his gun. When using any kind of gun but a Magelock, and a gun mage spell that requires the use of a firearm, you risk breaking the weapon. To determine if the weapon breaks, make a saving throw at the end of the encounter. If you use a daily power with such a weapon, make the saving throw immediately. If you fail the throw, the weapon falls apart in your hands.

Arcane Focus

Gun mages use their guns as an implement. On any gun mage power with the Implement or Weapon keywords, apply the enhancement bonus on your gun to the attack and damage rolls.

If a gun mage power has the implement keyword, do not apply the gun's proficiency bonus on the attack roll.

If a gun mage power has the weapon keyword it requires the gun to be loaded and uses at least one bullet. Any attack made as part of such a power that does not deal weapon damage does not use additional ammunition.

Gun Mage Rituals
Gun mages have a limited set of rituals that are universal among their trade. You gain the Ritual Caster feat, and begin knowing all level one gun mage rituals.

Sorcerous Talent
Such an individualistic group tends to attract all kinds. Each gun mage comes at the path a bit differently. Some practice their art for years, while others have a natural talent for it.
Expert Arcanist: You gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls on ranged attacks with Cast Rune Bullet applied to them. Increase this bonus by 1 upon reaching paragon tier and once again upon reaching Epic tier.
Wildblood: You use your Charisma modifier for Arcana checks rather than your Intelligence modifier.
